“That house was perfect, whether you liked food or sleep, or story-telling or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear, and sadness."
J.R.R. Tolkien
Our pilgrims need a destination. Our people need a calendar. Our kingdom needs a square.
Somewhere in the middle of our third retreat someone said there ought to be a place, like a monastery, where we could all stay in this babbling stream of play and prayer until we were rested, renewed, and ready to return to the less-embracing world.
The Road is how people are found and how they find us. The Table is the long-awaited feast that speaks the thank-yous, the well-dones, and the welcomes. The House is how we seek, and find, flourishing in the ordinary time of everyday living.
Step into the regular, life-giving rhythms of formation and prayer, craft and connection. We keep the hearth warm both on Discord and in-person, and these fires stay lit whether a hundred people come or only two. Either way, we see Christ alive in our midst.
If you have been walking the woods alone, we invite you to come, take off that weather-beaten cloak, and stay a while by the fire.
A House with two wings
The Cloister & The Courtyard
Under this roof the work splits the way a life splits — soul and craft — but then moves toward the wholeness and integration of both. One wing reminds us how the world can shine again. The other wing teaches the work to tell the truth.
None of this replaces a church. It is how makers in this industry refuse to treat faith as a weekend retreat and work as strictly secular.
The Long, Obedient Work of Spiritual Maturity
The Cloister
Hall of Prayer — thirty minutes, most Fridays. Industry intercession for the Kingdom of Interactive Entertainment.
Hall of Epiphany — Invitation, then Initiation. Wonder as a weekly practice on Wednesdays. Exploration and discussion is the point.
Committing to the Craft to Serve Before Kings
The Courtyard
Hall of Counsel — monthly, live plus recordings. Faith, craft, and calling from people who do this work for real.
House Rules
An Achievement Guide for Redemptive Game Creators
The Achievement Guide is our hot take on a monastic rule of life. It is the short guidebook and playthrough of this house. How does a Christian stay a person, and become a better creator, inside Interactive Entertainment when so much is set against us? The rooms teach it, in part, and a small book carries it. Experience the centering power of these ideas and practices in our Discord server.
Guests and passers-by can learn more without commitment here: Achievement Guide.
How you get a key
The email list is the key to Discord. Discord is where the House actually meets. You do not need a title. You need a name we can find.
